About This Course
Many independent editors are expected to deliver a finished grade, not just a picture lock. This course covers that workflow from start to finish inside DaVinci Resolve.
The focus is practical. We go from raw or log footage through primary correction, secondary adjustments, and a final creative grade. Each stage has a clear purpose and a measurable outcome.
Technical foundations first
Before touching a color wheel, students learn to read scopes. The waveform, vectorscope, and parade monitor are the actual tools of color work. Guessing by eye produces inconsistent results across different monitors.
Log footage handling is covered in depth because most camera systems now shoot in some form of log. Understanding how to apply a LUT correctly, and when not to, is a skill gap many editors have.
Color grading is the last thing that happens and one of the first things an audience feels, even when they cannot name it.
The course also addresses color management workflows, including ACES and DaVinci YRGB, so students understand what they are choosing when they set up a new project.
- Scopes: waveform, vectorscope, parade
- Primary correction: exposure, white balance, contrast
- Secondary corrections: HSL qualification and Power Windows
- LUTs: creative and technical uses
- Node structure and organization
- Delivery: export settings for different platforms
DaVinci Resolve free version is sufficient for all course exercises.
Hands-on Editing Labs
Each module includes 3 to 5 practical exercises using real footage. You will apply cut techniques, pacing decisions, and colour grade workflows within a structured 45-minute session format.
Peer Review System
Students submit edited sequences for structured critique by 2 peers and 1 instructor. Feedback follows a 4-point rubric covering rhythm, continuity, narrative clarity, and technical execution.
Verified Certificate
Upon completing all modules and passing the final assessment with a score of 80 or above, you receive a verified certificate issued by Breskavod, recognised by production studios in 14 countries.
